[Text on screen] Alternative ampoule opening technique

[Text on screen] Obtain a clean 3mm syringe. Remove the plunger from the barrel of the extra syringe. Set the plunger aside.

[Text on screen] Hold the medicine ampoule upright and gently flick the top of the ampoule, with your finger, to move any medicine from inside the top of the ampoule to the bottom.

[Text on screen] Place the barrel of the extra syringe over the top of the ampoule until the entire top of the ampoule is inside the syringe barrel. (*If is a dot on the top of the ampoule make sure the dot is facing away from you.)

[Text on screen] Hold the ampoule in one hand and the syringe barrel firmly in the other hand, and at a slight angle. Snap the top of the ampoule away from you.

[Text on screen] Turn the syringe barrel, containing the snapped-off top of the ampoule, upside down. Dispose the snapped-off top of the ampoule and the syringe barrel into the sharps container.
